“Faith in Business: Overcoming Challenges with Jesus”

As we navigate the often tumultuous waters of entrepreneurship, it’s important to remember that we don’t have to face our challenges alone. In the midst of stressful workdays and the myriad of obstacles that come our way, I want to encourage you to place your trust in Jesus. His promises offer guidance, strength, and comfort during the most trying times in running a small business.

Here are the top five struggles that many of us encounter in our entrepreneurial journey, along with corresponding scriptures from the Promise Bible to provide solace and inspiration:

  1. Financial Worries – We often face financial burdens and uncertainties in our businesses. But remember Philippians 4:19, which assures us, “And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.”
  2. Work-Life Balance – Balancing the demands of work and personal life can be challenging. Seek guidance in Psalm 127:2, “It is in vain that you rise up early and go late to rest, eating the bread of anxious toil; for he gives to his beloved sleep.”
  3. Competitive Pressures – The competitive landscape can be fierce. Find strength in Isaiah 41:10, “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
  4. Employee Relations – Managing employees and their dynamics can be taxing. Recall Colossians 3:23-24, “Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ.”
  5. Uncertainty – The future of our businesses often feels uncertain. Take comfort in Proverbs 3:5-6, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.

Today, September 27, 2023, marks what would have been John C. Arwood’s 79th birthday. He famously said, “In all dealings, no matter how they end, remember to say Thank you Jesus.” Let us honor his memory by embracing this mantra and allowing our faith in Jesus to guide us through the ups and downs of our entrepreneurial journey. Together, we can find strength, resilience, and success through faith

In His name, John D. Arwood
